Little Ladybug Huggums wears a short-sleeved top, of pink with white polka dots cotton, is accented by mint green binding and ruffles as well as a mint green embroidered ladybug. The pink and white striped, cotton pants, worn beneath, are also accented by mint green binding and ruffles. A pink hat of woven cotton, embellished by pink with white polka dots and mint green ruffles, completes her darling little outfit. Madame Alexander created the Baby Huggums mold in 1963 as a first play doll for little girls, with molded hair, and a soft lightweight body that is easy to carry and quite huggable; thus the name Huggums. Today the Baby Huggums still is being made as a first play baby, and is offered in several variations. Some with the original cloth body style, and others with a cloth body but has vinyl arms and legs, and a weighted lifelike body.
